Disney India has come on a project to run
‘Beauty and the Beast’, the celestial classic in Indian playhouse for the first
time. ‘La Belle et la Bête’, better known as ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in English
is a consecutive folk lore authorised by French novelist Jeanne-Marie Leprince
de Beaumont and published in 1756. The
story got immense popularity throughout the centuries and the tale has been
illustrated in about all sectors of art like paintings, poetries, songs, plays
even in cinemas. On stage it glittered again and again but never in India. Now
Disney India is going to engulf their momentum to Indian theatre with this
immortal love story.
The production will be basically based on
the award-winning animation movie (1991) which was based on the story said before.
Already New York and London has been witness of the play and now complying the
original script not-changed, Disney India is patronizing an Indo-Occidental
‘Beauty and the Beast’. The unit is completely international not at all
excluding India. Vikranth Pawar is directing the show and also he is the
Creative Head of the Live Entertainment at Disney India. Lesle Lewis is the
Music Director whereas Terence Lewis is choreographing the entire show. Set
will be designed by Varsha Jain. Costume Designer Gavin Miguel, Hair dresseer
and Make-up artist Pallavi Devika and Vocal trainer Suzanne D'Mello are working
with this mega-production .
The 130 minutes lingering English drama
will be played across Mumbai and Delhi from October to December of the running
year.
As per said by Siddharth Roy Kapur,
Managing Director, Disney India, they are always thinking of ways in which to
bring our audiences truly memorable world class entertainment experiences, and
this pioneering effort to locally produce one of their most beloved Broadway
musicals, is another example of that ongoing effort , at Disney India.
